Blend
a measure each of Khukri rum and light rum with half-measures of
tequila, Cointreau and apricot brandy, a measure of freshly squeezed
orange juice, a splash of grenadine and a few drops of Angostura
bitters and ice cubes in a liquidizer. Decant into a very large
wine glass. Approach with trepidation.

Punch |
|
Shake
a double measure each of Khukri rum and fresh orange juice with
a couple of teaspoons of fresh lemon juice and ice, and strain into
a large glass. (Some authorities insist on a dash of grenadine just
for good measure)

Punch |
|
Stir
a generous measure of Khukri rum with a splash of cane syrup and
the pounded zest and juice of a lime in a large tumbler with plenty
of crushed ice. (Not to be confused with tea punch, which is actually
based on tea.)

Colada |

|
Invented
in Puerto Rico, this literally translates as 'strained pineapple'.
The classic recipe suggests coconut cream in place of Malibu, but
the latter has an added zing. It doesn't include cream either
Whizz
up two measures each of white rum and pineapple juice, with a couple
of teaspoons of shredded fresh coconut and ice, in a liquidizer.
(For that tropical touch, the drink should ideally be poured into
a pineapple shell with a good lining of fruit left in it and drunk
through straws.)

Daiquiri
|
|
This
cocktail was officially christened by a group of American engineers
working in the Daiquiri tin mines near Santiago de Cuba at the turn
of the century. They regularly imbibed this potion for medicinal
purposes - or so they alleged!
Shake
a double measure of Khukri rum with the juice of half a lime or
a quarter of a lemon, a teaspoon of caster sugar and ice. Strain
into a cocktail glass. (Adding half a measure of some fruit liqueur,
together with 50g/2oz of the equivalent fresh fruit, pureed, is
a popular spin on the original Daiquiri. A strawberry version made
with fraise liqueur is especially enticing.)
